About the position

The 911 EMT position at AMR involves responding to both emergency and non-emergency calls, providing high-quality patient care and customer service in accordance with established protocols and company policies. As an EMT, you will be required to maintain a thorough understanding of treatment protocols, response requirements, and quality assurance procedures relevant to the system in which you are assigned. This role demands a commitment to staying updated on any changes in system components and company policies, ensuring compliance with all state and company requirements for operating a motor vehicle, and adhering to safety practices while on duty. In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring that your unit is always ready for service, which includes maintaining mechanical reliability, medical supplies, equipment cleanliness, and overall appearance standards. You will also be expected to report any discrepancies in vehicle or equipment standards to the Lead Paramedic immediately, complete all necessary documentation as per company policy, and report any unusual occurrences or problems to your supervisor. Professional appearance and adherence to hygiene and uniform standards are essential, as is attendance at all mandatory in-services. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid California Driver's License, and various certifications including an EMT License, CPR Card, and Medical Examiner's Certificate. Experience in Paramedic School is also necessary, along with specific internal experience for current EMTs in San Diego. This position offers a full-time opportunity with competitive hourly pay based on experience and shift type.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls.
  • Deliver high-quality patient care and customer service within the prescribed scope of practice.
  • Maintain familiarity with treatment protocols, response requirements, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Comply with all state and company requirements for operation of motor vehicles.
  • Operate a company vehicle in accordance with company policy and safe practices.
  • Quickly and safely locate addresses through knowledge of number systems and street layouts.
  • Ensure the unit remains in a state of readiness in terms of mechanical reliability, medical supply, and equipment cleanliness.
  • Report discrepancies in vehicle or equipment standards to the Lead Paramedic.
  • Complete all appropriate documentation as outlined in company policy.
  • Report all problems and unusual occurrences to the Lead Paramedic or Supervisor.
  • Maintain a professional appearance by adhering to hygiene and uniform standards.
  • Attend all mandatory in-services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Valid California Driver's License.
  • Ambulance Driver's License (from DMV).
  • Medical Examiner's Certificate.
  • State of California EMT License.
  • EMT Certificate (San Diego County card).
  • CPR Card (American Heart Association only).
  • Currently enrolled in Paramedic School.
  • For current Internal San Diego EMTs, 4 months of IFT experience and following the Internal Promotion process within AMR San Diego.
