About the position

The 911 GIS Technician II is responsible for managing and ensuring the quality of databases used for 911 and public safety. This role involves utilizing GIS tools for data creation, editing, and maintenance, as well as performing analytics to guarantee data accuracy. The technician will collaborate with various departments and agencies to support emergency dispatching and public safety functions, requiring effective communication with the community.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties of a 911 GIS Technician I
  • Create, update, and manage GIS data on the ArcGIS server
  • Generate reports and data deliverables using advanced data analysis concepts
  • Create, maintain, and edit applications
  • Perform data comparison tasks within multiple related databases
  • Update GIS data for third-party software applications
  • Create and maintain 911 standards of operations
  • Perform quality control on all 911 databases for accuracy and completeness
  • Identify methods to promote information sharing for 911 GIS data
  • Create, update, and manage automated processes for data manipulation
  • Conduct GIS and 911 related training and instruction
  • Coordinate and assist the Supervisor with administrative and grant paperwork
  • Serve as the acting supervisor in the absence of the supervisor
  • Produce electronic mapping products and paper maps as needed
  • Utilize GIS to research and troubleshoot data discrepancies
  • Perform field verification activities as needed
  • Assemble, organize, and summarize requested information for support staff
  • Type/file/retrieve reports and other documents
  • Create, update, and follow quality assurance standards
  • Utilize computers and applicable software for various tasks

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency
  • College education or GIS/Public Safety/Public Administration related Certification
  • Minimum of 2 years GIS experience or 911 experience
  • Advanced understanding of data management in a relational database
  • Advanced knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS software
  • Intermediate knowledge of GIS related coding languages (Python, SQL, and ESRI's Arcade)
  • Basic knowledge of NENA 911 Data Model Standards
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Type 25 WPM accurately
  • Valid Florida Drivers License
