About the position

The Tax Professional at H&R Block is a seasonal role focused on providing expert tax services to clients with diverse needs. This position emphasizes building strong client relationships and delivering accurate tax returns while supporting clients through IRS interactions. The role requires effective communication and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, utilizing both in-person and virtual tools for client engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct tax interviews with clients face to face and through virtual tools - video, phone, chat, email
  • Prepare complete and accurate tax returns
  • Generate business growth, increase client retention, and offer additional products and services
  • Provide clients with IRS support
  • Mentor and support teammates

Requirements

  • Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment
  • Experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping or tax
  • Experience completing individual returns
  • High school diploma / equivalent or higher
  • Must complete 10 hour continuing education requirement and meet all other IRS and applicable state requirements

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • CPA or Enrolled Agent certification
  • Experience completing complex returns (individual, trust, partnership)
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping or tax
  • Experience conducting virtual tax interviews
  • Experience with tax planning and audit support
  • Sales and/or marketing experience
