About the position

The Linux Systems Administrator position at Innova Solutions is designed for an experienced professional to support the Intelligence Community by managing and maintaining both Windows and Linux-based systems. The role emphasizes improving system stability, performance, and security while providing tier-3 engineering support. The administrator will work closely with various teams to ensure the seamless operation of infrastructure and applications, leveraging expertise in cloud environments and automation tools.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily operational support for Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems and applications
  • Support virtual and physical infrastructure of servers running CentOS in various configurations
  • Develop and maintain environments running in Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Maintain the integrity and security of systems by monitoring security feeds and dashboards
  • Develop and maintain standards and procedures for applications across a complex computing infrastructure
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation
  • Monitor application and operating system performance; analyze, document and remediate incidents
  • Develop and oversee implementation of testing strategies and document the results
  • Leverage scripting and system automation tools
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies
  • Research and recommend hardware and software, coordinate installation, and provide backup recovery
  • Interact with users and evaluate vendor products
  • Review incidents to understand the root causes and ensure implementation of proper fixes
  • Collaborate with system administrators, engineers, and the client to ensure proper integration of applications

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret w/Full-Scope Poly Clearance
  • Extensive experience with Redhat and/or Centos
  • Demonstrated experience with VMWare ESXi infrastructure 6.x + vCenter server
  • Demonstrated experience in server builds using automated mechanisms
  • Demonstrated experience with Ansible and/or Puppet
  • Demonstrated experience with Ansible playbooks for provisioning and configuration management
  • Demonstrated experience with building, upgrading and maintaining applications in AWS
  • Demonstrated experience with code maintenance using Git, Gitlab, and/or Github
  • Demonstrated experience with Atlassian Jira and Confluence
  • Demonstrated experience with managing Elasticsearch on CentOS
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related technical discipline

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Linux System Administrator
  • Knowledge of network engineering fundamentals and network design
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Windows Server versions 2008, 2016
  • Demonstrated experience with SCCM, WDS, MS SQL Server, Powershell, batch scripting
  • Demonstrated experience working with Syslog applications such as Splunk
  • Demonstrated experience with NetApp NAS systems
  • Demonstrated experience with Hadoop infrastructure and applications
  • Demonstrated experience with Cisco Nexus switches and Cisco Firepower Security Appliances

  • ITIL Foundations Certification
