About the position
The 988 Chat/Text Crisis Specialist is a full-time remote position focused on mental health crisis intervention and suicide prevention. This role involves handling incoming chat and text messages through the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL), providing clinical screenings, risk assessments, and linking individuals to appropriate services. The specialist will also conduct follow-up calls for individuals at moderate to high risk for suicide, ensuring safety and support for those in emotional distress.
Responsibilities
- Provide telephonic or chat clinical screenings and risk assessments.
- Answer crisis contacts via the chat/text platform to assess for suicide, safety, and identify appropriate community resources.
- Conduct follow-up calls for individuals who are deemed moderate to high risk for suicide.
- Meet ethical and clinical standards in compliance with all accreditation.
- Actively participate in ongoing supervision, training, and team meetings.
- Assist in administrative tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in behavioral science, Psychology, Social Work, or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist.
- Six months to one year of related crisis experience is required.
- Demonstrated high-level customer service skills and professional etiquette.
- Knowledge of suicide assessments and crisis intervention.
