About the position

The 9th - 12th Grade English Language Arts Teacher at Bennett High School is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to students in grades 9 through 12. This role involves creating lesson plans, assessing student progress, and adapting teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs. The teacher will work collaboratively with staff and communicate effectively with students and parents to support academic success.

Responsibilities

• Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students and administration.
• Instruct through lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and other appropriate methods for the subject area.
• Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress.
• Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
• Confer with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning for all students, including those with individual education plans.
• Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic needs.
• Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students.
• Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students.
• Guide and counsel students with adjustment and/or academic problems, or special academic interests.
• Perform other tasks or duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Principal.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
• Valid Colorado Licensure with appropriate endorsement.
• Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in teaching English Language Arts at the high school level.
• Skills in leadership, interpersonal relations, organization, prioritization, problem solving, and conflict management.
