About the position
The Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens assists the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. This role involves processing prescriptions, engaging with customers, and supporting pharmacy operations while maintaining a positive customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
- Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
- Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
- Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
- Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
- Assist in inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the Pharmacy Department.
Requirements
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
- PTCB or ExCPT certification is preferred.
Nice-to-haves
- Six months of experience in a retail environment is preferred.
- Prior work experience with Walgreens is preferred.
- Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
- Good computer skills are preferred.
- Knowledge of store inventory control is preferred.
