About the position

The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing construction projects that require specific technical expertise, particularly in the groundwater industry. This role involves managing all aspects of the project lifecycle, from initial planning and budgeting to final completion and handover, in collaboration with the Director of Service Division. The PM must demonstrate strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of general construction practices.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients, engineers, hydrogeologists, and the Schneider Water Services team to define project scope and objectives.
  • Develop detailed project planning and schedules tailored to the project.
  • Procure materials and supplies within project estimates.
  • Review technical specifications to comply with regulatory standards and client requirements.
  • Lead the construction process, ensuring the project stays on schedule and within budget.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers specializing in project aspects.
  • Ensure quality control and safety measures are adhered to during construction.
  • Address and resolve technical challenges that arise during construction.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the client and the project team.
  • Provide regular updates to the project team on progress, changes, and potential risks.
  • Prepare and present reports and deliverables as required by project milestones.
  • Monitor project costs and track expenditures to ensure alignment with the approved budget.
  • Assist in contract negotiation and manage procurement processes for specialty materials and services.
  • Optimize resource allocation, including labor, materials, and equipment, to ensure project efficiency.
  • Identify potential risks early in the project and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Solve complex technical problems specific to the project.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to the project.
  • Oversee the completion of final inspections, testing, and commissioning.
  • Ensure all documentation, including as-built drawings and warranties, are handed over to the client.
  • Conduct project debriefs and apply lessons learned to future projects.

Requirements

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Hydrogeology or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of managing projects or related experience.
  • Strong understanding of construction principles and best practices.
  • Proficient with software such as Microsoft products and scheduling tools.
  • Use of CAD software preferred.
  • Strong understanding of project budgeting and scheduling tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make critical decisions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Specialty certification or advanced coursework in water systems, well drilling, hydrogeology is highly preferred.
