The Retirement Systems Information Representative position at the New York State Comptroller's Office involves providing essential retirement information and support to members of the New York State and Local Retirement System. Responsibilities

• Disseminate retirement information to members of the New York State and Local Retirement System.
• Conduct phone consultations and respond to escalated calls in a Call Center environment.
• Calculate benefit projections for potential retirees.
• Assist staff during phone conversations to ensure timely service for members and retirees.
• Conduct one-on-one consultations and presentations at various locations as needed.
• Develop informational materials and communicate changes in law or policy to staff.
• Participate in the development of infrastructure or special projects supporting information programs.
• Assist in the implementation of internet-based applications for information sharing.
• Interpret feedback from members and propose methods to improve customer service.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree is required for all levels of the position.
• For Trainee 2, one year of professional experience or a higher degree in a related field is required.
• For Retirement Systems Information Representative 1, two years of professional experience or a higher degree with one year of experience is required.
• Professional experience must include conducting retirement planning consultations and responding to inquiries.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of Retirement and Social Security law.
• Experience in a Call Center environment.
• Familiarity with the PeopleSoft system and Retirement System databases.
