About The Position

Fayetteville Technical Community College is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Business Development Professional, working with the North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) and the Small Business Center (SBC). This role is integral to the NCMBC business development team and is located at Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville, NC. The position is not remote and requires a candidate who possesses excellent computer skills, flexibility, open-mindedness, and a willingness to take risks and accept responsibility for both professional and personal growth. The Business Development Professional will be responsible for building public and business awareness of military and federal business opportunities. This includes conducting meetings, briefings, and training events in collaboration with various partner agencies, as well as contributing content to NCMBC communications tools such as the website, e-newsletter, and social media platforms. The role also involves consulting with businesses to engage them in the federal market and assist them in competing for specific contracts through one-on-one meetings, which may take place in various locations including community college offices and business sites. Additionally, the Business Development Professional will conduct business visits to assess client companies' capabilities in business development and contracting competencies, providing recommendations and referrals to improve their capabilities. The position requires identifying current and future federal contract opportunities, sourcing these opportunities to capable NC companies, and providing technical assistance to help clients understand solicitations and develop proposals. Establishing and maintaining relationships with contracting officials and small business specialists in federal contracting offices is also a key responsibility, aimed at promoting the utilization of NC businesses for future contracts. The role may also involve assisting in developing teaming relationships between NC subcontractors and federal prime contractors, as well as maintaining relevant webpages on the NCMBC website.
