About the position

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience and contribute to our mission of enhancing the health and well-being of the communities we serve. As a HAP intern, you will get exposure to various aspects of our organization and work closely with industry professionals, enabling you to develop valuable skills in the healthcare and insurance sector. You will collaborate with other interns towards a common goal of completing a Capstone Project to present to HAP leadership and employees at the end of the summer, while also attending networking events to enhance your presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive research on industry trends, healthcare policies, and emerging technologies.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports to support strategic decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assist in the planning, development, and implementation of projects.
  • Contribute innovative ideas and support the execution of initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and customer experience.
  • Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis of healthcare-related data.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity, utilizing appropriate software tools and methodologies.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and assisting with customer support activities.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and propose innovative solutions to streamline workflows and enhance productivity.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation, including policies, procedures, and project-related materials.
  • Generate regular reports, dashboards, and presentations to effectively communicate project progress and outcomes.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments to support a positive and inclusive work environment.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, an accredited 4-year undergraduate or graduate program in a relevant field.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data analysis tools.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated adaptability, initiative, and a desire to learn and grow.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge or interest in healthcare, health insurance, or managed care is a plus.
  • Experience in project management (professional, educational, and volunteer environments all considered).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
