About the position

The Ambulatory Telephone Triage Nurse is responsible for providing timely and efficient healthcare support to patients via telephone. This role involves assessing patients' symptoms, utilizing critical thinking and nursing judgment, and employing approved decision support tools to offer appropriate nursing advice and determine the necessary level of care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and accurate assessment of patient symptoms via telephone.
  • Utilize critical thinking and nursing judgment to offer appropriate nursing advice.
  • Determine the level of care required for patients based on assessments.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to develop trust and provide support.
  • Work independently in a high-stress environment while managing time effectively.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program - Required
  • RN Registered Nursing - California Board of Nursing - Required
  • BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association - Required
  • 1 Year Acute Care Hospital - Preferred
  • 1 Year Ambulatory, triage, or medical office experience - Preferred
  • 1 Year Telephone Triage - Preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Advanced clinical assessment and decision-making ability
  • Sound critical thinking skills
  • Effective time management and organization skills
  • Empathetic with the ability to develop trust with patients

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing - Preferred
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish - Preferred
