About the position

The Access Representative is responsible for obtaining accurate demographic, financial, and clinical information to ensure complete registrations and admissions. This role requires a compassionate approach to interacting with patients, families, and healthcare professionals, while maintaining productivity standards in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain accurate demographic, financial, and clinical information for registrations/admissions.
  • Exhibit warmth, compassion, and responsiveness to patients and their families.
  • Answer telephone calls and assist with inquiries.
  • Utilize personal computers and other business machines extensively.
  • File records and reports, bending, reaching, and pushing/pulling file drawers as necessary.
  • Transport patients and assist with baggage as needed.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of insurance/clerical experience in a hospital or medical office setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance and payment collection processes preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows and basic computer functionality required.
  • Ability to type and perform data entry functions efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills with diverse customers.

  • Critical thinking skills and ability to problem solve and multi-task.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment.
