About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Pre/Post-Op/OR department at Physicians Surgery Center is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This PRN position requires working 3-4 days a month, primarily during weekdays, with no late nights or weekends. The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in accordance with established standards and policies, ensuring a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care of patients according to established standards.
• Participate in direct patient care and maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment.
• Supervise and direct patient care in the operating room, ensuring proper techniques and practices are followed.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other staff members.
• Perform scrub duties and maintain count on sponges, needles, and instruments during surgical procedures.
• Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists as needed, ensuring all supplies and equipment are ready for procedures.
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond to emergent situations appropriately.
• Participate in continuing education and in-service training as required.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
• Current Missouri RN License required.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
• Previous nursing experience in Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC), PACU, ICU, Medical Surgical, or Telemetry floor required.
• Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Amkai Office and Amkai Charts Database software.
• Knowledge of patient monitoring and emergency equipment.
