About the position

The Pesticide Spray Technician/IPM Scout at Plant Development Services, Inc. is responsible for performing chemical spraying to protect plants from pests and diseases, ensuring the delivery of quality grown liners to customers. The role also involves preventive scouting for pests and diseases on a daily basis, contributing to the overall health and quality of the plants.

Responsibilities

• Mix chemicals in a precise and safe manner
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, particularly in chemical mixing areas
• Operate spray equipment including carts, tractors, spray pumps, and spray backpacks
• Complete spray paperwork
• Scout crops to identify any pests and diseases
• Alert management of any pest and disease issues as they occur
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs (herbicide sack weight)
• Prior nursery and/or spray experience is a plus
• Experience with identifying pests and diseases preferred
• Pass medical fit for duty testing annually
• Must be able to read and understand instructions and safety information on SDS sheets for the chemicals being used
• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods outdoors and in variable weather conditions
• Good communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal directions
