About the position

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) at Elara Caring plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality home health care to patients. This position involves providing direct physical therapy services under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, ensuring that patients receive the right care in their preferred home setting. The PTA is responsible for following established care plans, instructing patients and their families on the use of assistive devices, and reporting any changes in patient status to the supervising therapist. This role offers autonomy, flexible scheduling, and the opportunity to make a significant impact on patients' lives.

Responsibilities

  • Performs direct physical therapy services in accordance with accepted standards of practice and certified by the patient's physician.
  • Follows the Plan of Care established by the Physical Therapist and reports any changes in patient status back to the Physical Therapist.
  • Adheres to the State Practice Act Guidelines.
  • Verifies the Plan of Care prior to each visit and provides care according to physician's orders and established standards.
  • Incorporates patient care goals established in the Plan of Care into therapy care.
  • Instructs patients and/or their families in the appropriate and safe use of prosthetic, orthotic, and assistive devices.
  • Instructs the patient and/or caregiver in the therapy home program.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program approved by the American Therapy Association.
  • 6+ months experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant is preferred.
  • Currently Licensed as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
  • Must have a dependable vehicle, a valid driver's license, and current auto insurance.
