About the position

The Special Education Paraprofessional for the Secondary Transition Program is responsible for supporting high school students with mild special education needs and adult students with disabilities. This role focuses on meeting the academic, physical, and transition needs outlined in the students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in both individual and small group settings. The position requires collaboration with special education teachers and adherence to confidentiality standards as mandated by FERPA.

Responsibilities

  • Assist high school students with mild special education needs in an alternative learning center.
  • Support adult students with disabilities in meeting their secondary transition goals.
  • Work under the direction of special education teachers and bus service personnel.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and family information as required under FERPA.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Two years of post-secondary education or successful completion of the ParaPro assessment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and educational teams to provide services to students with disabilities.
  • Previous experience working with students or adults with disabilities preferred.
