About the position

The State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) position is primarily responsible for providing care and support to residents with impaired abilities due to various health conditions. Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, the STNA will assist residents in daily activities, document care provided, and ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all residents. This role requires adherence to established policies and procedures while maintaining a compassionate and respectful approach to resident care.

Responsibilities

  • Follow physicians' orders for resident care and directions from the physical therapist.
  • Provide appropriate treatment to help residents maintain or attain the highest level of function possible.
  • Report all changes in the resident's condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse promptly.
  • Ensure that the resident's room is ready for receiving the resident, including making the bed and preparing admission kits.
  • Assist residents with daily personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Transport residents to new rooms or appointments as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by following established safety precautions and reporting hazards.
  • Participate in scheduled training and educational classes to maintain certification as a Nursing Assistant.

Requirements

  • Must possess a certificate for state tested nursing assistant.
  • Must be a licensed S.T.N.A. in accordance with state laws.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, and the general public.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with elderly or disabled individuals.
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures and safety protocols.
