About the position

The Parks Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for organizing, planning, supervising, and implementing maintenance plans for the parks system under the direction of the Parks Director. This role oversees daily operations of the Parks Maintenance Department, including grounds, equipment, landscape, and facility maintenance, while coordinating with contracted vendors and ensuring the completion of various maintenance tasks. The supervisor also evaluates staff performance, manages budgets, and maintains accurate records, with the expectation of working some weekends and holidays as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes, plans, supervises, and implements maintenance plans for the parks system.
  • Oversees daily operations of the Parks Maintenance Department including grounds, equipment, landscape, and facility maintenance.
  • Coordinates and oversees contracted vendors and assignments, ensuring completion of work.
  • Performs facility inspections and reports on repairs or replacements of equipment.
  • Evaluates work performance of maintenance staff and manages full-time and part-time staff.
  • Implements landscape maintenance and daily maintenance tasks for parks.
  • Administers business functions and assists with budget preparation and end-of-year reporting.
  • Assists with the implementation of city, state, and OSHA safety policies and procedures.
  • Develops and implements volunteer work days and tasks.
  • Responds to public inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Four (4) years of progressive experience in grounds maintenance, facility maintenance, construction management, landscape maintenance, or related fields.
  • Management or supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Valid Kentucky State Driver's license or ability to obtain one.
  • Valid Kentucky Commercial Pesticide/Herbicide license or ability to obtain one.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to obtain certifications such as Certified Playground Safety Inspector within twelve (12) months of employment.
