About the position

The Commercial Banking Area President/Commercial Lender & Relationship Manager (Business Development Officer) is responsible for leading sales and business development efforts in the region, ensuring profitability, asset quality, and exceptional customer experience. This role involves managing a team of Lending Officers, cultivating community relationships, and aligning with the bank's strategic goals while adhering to compliance and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Represents the bank throughout the region, aligning with the client's aspiration to be the financial institution of choice.
  • Guides sales and business development efforts, focusing on loan growth, deposit growth, and non-interest income growth.
  • Accountable for overall profitability of all markets in the region, including pricing disciplines and net interest margin management.
  • Responsible for maintaining asset quality and holding Commercial Lending Officers accountable for safety and soundness.
  • Cultivates employee recognition, engagement, and teamwork while managing performance and professional growth.
  • Meets or exceeds annual goals aligned with the strategic plan and budgeted metrics.
  • Retains key senior team members and minimizes turnover.
  • Directly manages Lending Officers and is responsible for staffing and performance accountability.
  • Sets the standard for exceptional customer experience and manages service recovery associated with complaints.
  • Cultivates engagement of Local Advisory Boards and ensures they are effective ambassadors for the bank.
  • Participates in strategic planning and execution of priorities as assigned.
  • Leads by example in alignment with the company's Servant Leadership philosophy.
  • Ensures compliance with laws concerning financial institutions and adapts to changes in the banking environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related area or equivalent combination of education and experience; MBA or related graduate education is desirable.
  • Minimum of five years of banking experience with proven management and leadership skills in commercial banking, retail banking, mortgage, wealth management, and marketing.
  • Previous experience in a President role in a similar sized bank is preferred.
  • Proven ability to present information effectively to various stakeholders including the Board of Directors and senior management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and appraise the performance of others and direct business development activities.
  • Established ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives to meet organizational objectives.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of graduate level banking school.
