About the position

The 1st Shift Machine Operator at TC Transcontinental Packaging is responsible for operating machinery to trim edges off rolls of film, producing packaging material that meets product specifications. This full-time position requires adherence to safety guidelines and maintaining a clean work environment while ensuring quality control of the product.

Responsibilities

• Loads and unloads rolls from the machine
• Sets up machine to specifications outlined in work order
• Checks for product quality and flags any poor-quality film
• Runs slitter machine and monitors for problems
• Loads finished rolls of film onto pallet
• Completes required documentation
• Keeps machine and operation area clean
• Ensures materials are available for next order and next shift
• Follows safety guidelines and wears designated Personal Protective Equipment
• Reports all first aid injuries, accidents, and workplace hazards

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Strong work history of at least 5 years in any field or industry
• Excellent attention to detail
• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills
• Strong understanding of common mathematical concepts
• Ability to comprehend and apply metric and standard units of measurement
• Ability to operate equipment in a safe manner at all times
• Ability to recognize and match colors
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Ability to manage various tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
