Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise teams of skilled laborers in the construction, repair, and maintenance of locomotives and railcars.
  • Conduct inspections and repairs at the component level on both locomotives and railcars during training.
  • Ensure compliance with Norfolk Southern, AAR, and FRA standards.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and accident prevention within the team.
  • Participate in process improvement efforts throughout Norfolk Southern.
  • Adapt to flexible working hours and potential relocation as determined by business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a similar field of study.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to handle conflict and foster a positive work environment.
  • Some knowledge and maintenance experience of engines and machinery.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new/proprietary programs.
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn new skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a mechanical or engineering role prior to this position.
  • Familiarity with railroad operations and safety standards.
