About the position

The Accounts Payable (AP) Clerk is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of all accounts payable transactions. This role involves managing vendor invoices, reconciling statements, and providing support for the finance department, particularly within a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Review, code, and process a high volume of vendor invoices in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Input invoices and expenses into the accounting system and verify financial data for accuracy.
  • Prepare and process payments, ensuring proper authorization and adherence to company policies.
  • Regularly reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies with vendors and internal departments.
  • Communicate with vendors to address inquiries, discrepancies, and maintain positive relationships.
  • Maintain organized files of invoices, receipts, and other financial documentation.
  • Assist in the monthly and year-end closing processes for accounts payable.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and controls in alignment with industry best practices.
  • Identify and recommend ways to improve AP processes, especially for manufacturing-related expenses.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; associate's degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of accounts payable experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and MS Office (especially Excel).
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for vendor and internal interactions.
  • Ability to identify, investigate, and resolve AP issues effectively.
