About the position

Soloy Helicopters is seeking skilled A&P Mechanics to join our team in Wasilla, Alaska. This position involves working on a variety of helicopter models including AS350/H125, BK117, MD500, B205A1++, and R44. We are looking for both experienced mechanics and newly certified A&P mechanics who are eager to gain hands-on experience in helicopter maintenance. As a part of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of our aircraft, which are crucial for supporting various industries and government services across Alaska. In this role, you will oversee and perform both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on our fleet of helicopters. This includes conducting inspections, performing corrosion control, and servicing aircraft subsystems. You will be tasked with removing and installing various aircraft components, such as engines and rotors, and ensuring that all maintenance checks are performed in compliance with FAA regulations. Your technical expertise will be essential in diagnosing and troubleshooting aircraft systems, and you will be expected to communicate effectively with customers regarding any discrepancies or maintenance needs. The position requires a willingness to travel to remote locations throughout Alaska and the Lower 48 States, as well as the ability to adjust your work schedule to meet the demands of our customers. You will also have the opportunity to participate in maintenance test flights and operational checks, further enhancing your skills and experience in the field of helicopter maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and performing scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance; inspections and corrosion control of aircraft components, airframe and powerplant.
  • Remove and install aircraft subsystem assemblies and components such as engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components.
  • Service and lubricate aircraft and subsystems.
  • Safely prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services.
  • Perform maintenance operational checks and diagnose and troubleshoot aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment as required.
  • Apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as aircraft Technical Manuals.
  • Comply with applicable Government and FAA rules and regulations on maintenance and follow appropriate aircraft technical data.
  • Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and use required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation.
  • Perform daily/post-flight inspections as required and perform necessary maintenance to correct any malfunctions.
  • Conduct off-station maintenance when required.
  • Effectively communicate with the customer in a courteous, professional manner and research any reported aircraft discrepancies through fault isolation to make repairs.
  • Participate in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.
  • May be required to function as Safety/Training/Supply point of contact in the Field environment.
  • Possess the willingness to adjust work schedule in order to ensure aircraft availability to customers.
  • Willingness to travel to remote field locations throughout Alaska and The Lower 48 States.

Requirements

  • Valid A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) certification.
  • Experience in helicopter maintenance, particularly with AS350/H125, BK117, MD500, B205A1++, and R44 models is preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and apply FAA regulations in maintenance practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with customers and team members.
