About the position

As an A&P Mechanic II, you will play a crucial role in the maintenance and repair of aircraft, ensuring that they meet the necessary mechanical and functional standards. Your primary responsibilities will include performing basic repairs, replacements, and maintenance on key aircraft components. You will support essential checks related to the mechanical and functional aspects of the aircraft, which includes testing and replacing defective or faulty parts. Utilizing a variety of tools and equipment, you will conduct basic diagnostics on parts that need replacement, ensuring that all repairs and maintenance activities comply with both national and international standards. Safety and cleanliness in the hangar or workshop will be paramount in your daily operations. In this position, you will be expected to demonstrate knowledge in one of the three main components of aviation maintenance: airframe maintenance, power plant mechanics, or Airframe & Power plant (A&P) components. You will be part of the ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area, which is recognized as a leader in ISR and aviation. This area is a prime integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems, providing end-to-end capabilities that include design, integration, testing, certification, ground/flight training, and complete logistics support. The IAS team is dedicated to tailoring solutions that meet customer cost, performance, and schedule requirements, consistently exceeding expectations with an impressive record of on-time and on-budget deliveries.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic repairs, replacements, and maintenance on key aircraft components.
  • Support necessary checks regarding the mechanical and functional components of the aircraft.
  • Test and replace defective or faulty parts.
  • Use a variety of tools and equipment to perform basic diagnostics on parts to be replaced.
  • Ensure repairs and maintenance are compliant with national and international standards of work.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of the hangar or workshop.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in airframe maintenance, power plant mechanics, or A&P components.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and typically 2 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Active, current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant certification with no prior FAA violations.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work locations.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Basic understanding of applicable technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications.
  • Advanced skills in repairing, maintaining, and/or troubleshooting aircraft airframes and engines.

Nice-to-haves

  • FAA repair station and/or Quality Assurance experience.
  • Ability to travel on a regular basis and/or work different shifts including overtime and weekends.
  • Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFARS).
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military.
