About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing incoming payments and invoices. This position requires accuracy, dependability, and a team spirit, and is essential for our small, family-owned business that is experiencing rapid growth.

Responsibilities

• Process and record incoming payments accurately in the accounting system.
• Research deductions from payments using customer portals.
• Dispute incorrect deductions and follow up on repayments.
• Distribute AP bills for approval and enter in the accounting system when approved.
• Deposit paper checks in bank and record in accounting system.
• Respond to customer inquiries regarding billing and payment issues with professionalism and proper etiquette.
• Generate and distribute invoices, statements, and reminders for outstanding accounts.
• Assist in reconciling accounts receivable discrepancies and resolving issues promptly.
• Other tasks as assigned by the Director of Accounting and owner.

Requirements

• Previous experience with AR and AP is mandatory.
• Familiarity with retail food business is a plus.
• Proficiency in accounting software is necessary.
• Strong data entry skills with attention to detail.
• Knowledge of Excel is necessary (pivot table and vlookups).
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team is crucial.
