About the position

The A/R Coordinator at Arizona Arthritis & Rheumatology Associates is responsible for managing unpaid account balances primarily with insurance companies. This role involves reviewing delinquent accounts, conducting root cause analyses for non-payments, and communicating with insurance providers to resolve payment issues. The position requires a proactive and compassionate approach to ensure effective billing practices and patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Review reports indicating delinquent payments on accounts after 31 days from the date of service.
• Conduct root cause analysis for non-payment by researching chart and authorization documentation, claim status feedback, and explanation of benefit summaries.
• Utilize various communication methods (telephone, email, website, written) to resolve accounts with insurance companies.
• Write appeals as necessary to facilitate payment.
• Escalate unpaid claims to the bureau of insurance when compliance issues arise with specific payers.
• Follow adjustment policies set by the department director.
• Answer patient billing inquiries on a scheduled rotation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Combined medical billing and payment experience required, 2 years.
• Demonstrated knowledge of state, federal, and third-party claims processing, 2 years.
• Demonstrated knowledge of state & federal collections guidelines, 2 years.

Nice-to-haves

• A/R experience in a large healthcare practice, 2 years.
• Clinical Billing and Collections, 1 year.
• Associate's degree or advanced education specific to business administration or certified coding credential.
• NextGen PM system experience, 1 year.
