About the position

The A/R Specialist at Benedictine Health System plays a crucial role in managing the accounts receivable processes for the Short Term Care accounts. This position is responsible for ensuring that the workflow between individual communities and the Central Billing Office (CBO) is both accurate and timely. The A/R Specialist will perform daily processing of accounts receivable, which includes billing and collection of payments from various designated payers and locations. A strong understanding of Medicare is essential, as the role involves managing billing and collections for Medicare, Medicaid, and other commercial insurances. In this position, the A/R Specialist will monitor the aging of accounts receivable, accessing accounts that require further attention and collaborating with the A/R and Billing Supervisor or Nursing Home Administrator as necessary. The role also involves collecting private pay balances to ensure that statements are processed and paid promptly. Compliance with all relevant laws and regulations is a critical aspect of this position, as is adherence to the Benedictine Corporate Compliance Program. Responsibilities

  • Perform daily processing of accounts receivable for the Short Term Care A/R system.
  • Ensure accurate and timely workflow between individual communities and the Central Billing Office (CBO).
  • Manage accounts receivable billing and collection of payments for designated payers and locations.
  • Work with Commercial Insurances and Billing.
  • Monitor Medicaid, Coinsurance, Medicaid Therapy, Hospice, Veterans Administration, and other designated payer sources to ensure timely filing of claims.
  • Monitor A/R aging and involve the A/R and Billing Supervisor or Nursing Home Administrator as needed.
  • Collect private pay balances to ensure prompt processing and payment of statements.
  • Comply with all related laws and regulations and fulfill obligations under the Benedictine Corporate Compliance Program.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 3 years of experience in accounts receivable and private pay collections.
  • Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement systems, including billing forms and requirements for various third-party payers in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Missouri, Illinois, and North Dakota.
  • Proficient in using computers and related software for word processing (e.g., Word), spreadsheets (e.g., Excel), and accounts receivable software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's Degree in business or accounting.
  • Experience in accounts receivable long-term care billing.
  • Knowledge of regulations affecting facility business offices.
  • Proficient knowledge of Medicare and similar plans.
