About the position

The A/V Technician will serve as the expert resource for audio and visual needs at the Health Sciences Institute. This role involves designing, installing, troubleshooting, and resolving AV-related issues in specified spaces, ensuring all AV technologies and videoconferencing systems are operational and ready for use.

Responsibilities

• Provides proactive and reactive support of all AV technologies and videoconferencing systems in various spaces.
• Tests, calibrates, and operates AV equipment including microphones, production switchers, audio mixers, and video projectors.
• Mentors backup support staff and other AV technicians to enhance their troubleshooting skills.
• Ensures all conference rooms and spaces are ready for daily use and conducts weekly inspections.
• Maintains an accurate inventory of audio-visual equipment and suggests repairs or replacements as needed.
• Identifies and manipulates analog and digital signal types, cabling types, and audio/video connectors.
• Provides training on video conferencing technologies and AV systems in conference rooms.
• Offers onsite client support for meetings and events during standard business hours, evenings, and weekends.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of teleconferencing and AV hardware.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 4-year degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
• Five or more years of experience as an audio-visual technician.
• Experience with manufacturers such as Crestron, Poly, and Cisco is preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong customer service, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work both independently and as part of a team.
