About the position

The Youth Development Program Director is responsible for supporting the general administration of School Age Programs, ensuring the safety and quality of all operating sites in the region. This role includes leading the training and orientation of all School Age Program Staff, overseeing day-to-day operations, staff supervision, budgeting, expense control, income generation, program development, community relations, and facility maintenance. The director also provides direction and leadership for achieving Association goals in accordance with established policies and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and administer total operation of the School Age Program site including the interpretation and execution of established policies.
  • Plan and conduct a wide variety of programs and activities that maximize the site and enhance program participants.
  • Create a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity and ensuring the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities.
  • Promote and monitor membership and/or program growth.
  • Maintain all records and data on each child, employee, and volunteer.
  • Handle all emergency incidents and submit proper documentation.
  • Design and implement on-site program to train all new staff in School Age Programs.
  • Recruit, hire, supervise and develop department staff and volunteers.
  • Support Y Community Champions efforts.
  • Assist in preparing annual site budget for approval.
  • Represent and promote the YMCA in the local community.
  • Participate in Annual Campaign efforts and lead fundraising events.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Meet all state and county licensing requirements.
  • State mandated trainings (MODS), FCCPC and Florida Credential required.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification within 90 days of employment.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Previous childcare and supervisory/leadership experience required.
  • Skills to operate standard office and computer equipment.
  • Ability to relate to diverse groups from all socioeconomic segments of the community.
  • Capable of working under pressure and organizing efficiently.
  • Must be mentally alert and able to process and follow directions.

  • Experience working with neurodivergent children.
  • Get SMART preferred.
