About the position

The Career Success Coach position at Work Incorporated is a dynamic and rewarding role designed to support participants in the Ability One Training Program. This position is pivotal in ensuring that all program participants receive adequate assessment and development tailored to their individual needs and aspirations. The Career Success Coach will engage with participants to help them articulate their career goals and develop actionable service plans that align with their dreams and desires. This role requires a compassionate approach, as the coach will provide job coaching, crisis intervention, and facilitate transitions for individuals, ensuring they receive the necessary support throughout their journey. In addition to direct coaching, the Career Success Coach will maintain regular communication with representatives from funding agencies and conduct satisfaction surveys to gather feedback from individuals and their families. This feedback is crucial for improving services and ensuring that the program meets the evolving needs of its participants. The coach will also be responsible for maintaining accurate case records and documentation, which is essential for tracking the progress of each individual. The role involves guiding clients through job interviews and resume preparation, helping them understand their entitlements, and ensuring their safety while under supervision. The Career Success Coach will also create and track Individual Employment Plans (IEEs) and Disability Determinations, monitor monthly hours and goals, and provide ongoing training and support to enhance job retention and advancement. This position is not only about providing support but also about empowering individuals to advocate for their needs and develop the skills necessary for success in the workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Provide job coaching as needed.
  • Help individuals develop service plans in accordance with their wishes, dreams, and desires.
  • Develop and facilitate the implementation of programming related to individuals' career goals.
  • Provide crisis intervention as necessary.
  • Facilitate the transition of appropriate referrals and ensure adequate assessment of individuals.
  • Communicate regularly with representatives of the funding agency.
  • Conduct individual and family satisfaction surveys to improve services for individuals.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and record-keeping as required.
  • Support individuals in advocating for their needs within the organization.
  • Assist individuals with job interviews and resume preparation.
  • Help individuals understand their entitlements and how they relate to wages.
  • Ensure the safety of the persons served under supervision.
  • Create and track Individual Employment Plans (IEEs) and Disability Determinations for the Ability One program.
  • Track monthly hours/goals for individuals served.
  • Guide clients in learning to complete job tasks through in-person or online site visits.
  • Monitor, document, and evaluate the progress of clients.
  • Provide education about mental illness to host companies and community groups.
  • Train host company personnel to function as natural supports.
  • Work with consumers on job retention and advancement.
  • Provide ongoing training and support in identifying areas of improvement or strength.
  • Help in the development of motivation, skills, and de-escalation tactics.
  • Provide ongoing liaison/advocacy/instructional intervention with patience and empathy.
  • Provide continued 1:1 training/retraining at the job site initially and as job changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a related field (experience may be substituted in lieu of degree).
  • Ability to interpret financial reports and legal documents.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Mathematical skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and create and interpret graphs.
  • Reasoning ability: ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in job coaching or related fields.
  • Familiarity with mental health issues and support strategies.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
