About the position
The Academic Advisor provides direct academic coaching support to students with and without disabilities in the grant-funded Advantage (TRIO Student Support Services) Program during the 2024-2025 Academic Year.
Responsibilities
- Provide academic coaching in the Advantage Program.
- Assist students in developing studying and learning strategies.
- Refer students to additional Advantage Program and campus resources to support their learning needs.
- Consult with Advantage team, instructors, and O'Neill Center for Student Access and Support regarding academic support for individual students.
- Document student contact per grant guidelines.
Requirements
- Master's degree in learning disabilities, education, counseling, student services, or related discipline.
- College-level experience, preferably in a community college, providing academic advising, tutoring, student support services, or in related student affairs.
- Knowledge of teaching or tutoring techniques.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Prior work experience with students with disabilities.
- Experience in TRIO or another comprehensive student support program.
- Knowledge of instructional and/or adaptive technology.
Benefits
- Compensation of $32.64 per hour for up to 6 hours per week during the academic year.
- Part-time, non-benefited position.
