  • Help students interpret academic policies, degree audits, and transcripts.
  • Act as a bridge to other university resources and services, enhancing student experience.
  • Engage with prospective students and their families, providing exceptional service and information about Texas State.
  • Participate in key university events like Bobcat Day to aid recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Maintain strong communication and collaborative relationships with academic departments and university divisions.
  • Conduct dynamic and informative presentations, engaging students and stakeholders in meaningful ways.
  • Keep meticulous and confidential student records, documenting all interactions thoroughly.
  • Provide administrative assistance for the efficient operation of advising services.
  • Adapt to a flexible schedule, including standard hours and occasional night/weekend work for special events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Evidence of attention to detail, as demonstrated in a grammatically correct cover letter and complete application.
  • Documented work experience with college students or adolescents.
  • Demonstrated interest in working with first-year students.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree or hours toward advanced degree.
  • Experience as an academic advisor in a college setting.
  • Experience working with first-year college students.
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish).
