About the position

The Elementary Science Academic Content Lead is responsible for coordinating the successful implementation of K-5 Science programming within the Clayton County Public Schools. This role promotes effective Science instruction and integrates innovative practices to enhance student achievement. The position involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including district departments and industry leaders, to support and sustain Science initiatives, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of K-5 Science programming/core curricula.
• Promotes and supports effective Science instruction and special programs/projects designed to increase student achievement.
• Collaborates with key District departments to ensure coordination of District-wide Science programming.
• Coordinates and collaborates with other departments to implement Science-based special projects and initiatives.
• Participates in regularly scheduled District and regional meetings.
• Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Engages in the vertical articulation of District K-5 instructional goals and objectives.
• Assists with selection, implementation, and evaluation of various student enrichment programs.
• Engages a diverse Science community, partners, and industry leaders to support Science programs and initiatives.
• Supports the design, implementation, and evaluation of innovative practices and professional learning for teachers and leaders.
• Ensures labs and chemical stockrooms meet state and federal regulations.

Requirements

• Master's degree required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of Elementary (K-5) science teaching or instructional support experience required.
• Leadership experience required.
• GaPSC certification at Level 5 or higher in content area or related field required.
• K-5 Science Endorsement required.
• Completion of all applicable Special Georgia Requirements at the time of application required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with various levels of individuals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Proficient with technology concepts to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
