About the position

The Academic Coordinator for the Kellogg Honors College at California State University, Pomona, is responsible for overseeing the admissions and matriculation processes, coordinating student advising, and managing events and activities for honors students. This role involves developing recruitment strategies, advising students on academic and scholarship opportunities, and ensuring compliance with university initiatives. The coordinator will work closely with faculty, staff, and community partners to enhance the educational experience of honors students and promote community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the KHC Admissions and Matriculation Processes.
  • Implement the admissions process and manage online applications.
  • Identify prospective applicants through data analysis from Tableau and Peoplesoft.
  • Design and lead honors college orientation sessions.
  • Counsel prospective students and families on the admissions process.
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies for KHC.
  • Coordinate KHC Student Advising and develop an advising model.
  • Advise faculty and advising centers on KHC requirements.
  • Coordinate KHC Events and Activities, including community service opportunities.
  • Lead the planning of the annual Showcase of Excellence and other high-profile events.
  • Manage honors college website and social media accounts.
  • Analyze sensitive data to assess programmatic needs and compliance with initiatives.
  • Conduct exit interviews with graduating honors college students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience.
  • Master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of individual and group behavior principles.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and advise students on student-related matters.

Nice-to-haves

  • A master's degree in counseling, clinical psychology, social work, or a job-related field.
  • Five years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience.
  • Experience in advising students and resolving complex student services problems.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical and research methods.

  • Full-time position with a salary range of $5,276 - $7,517 per month.
