About the position

The Academic Counselor at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff is responsible for supporting student-athletes in their academic and personal development. This role focuses on helping student-athletes navigate their educational journey, ensuring they are prepared for life beyond sports. The counselor will collaborate with various departments to organize events and workshops that promote career growth, diversity, leadership, and personal development, while also overseeing academic support and tracking student-athlete eligibility and progress towards graduation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare student-athletes for life beyond their sport.
  • Organize and schedule events and workshops focused on career and professional growth.
  • Oversee academic support for various teams.
  • Track the eligibility of student-athletes and their progress towards degree completion and graduation.
  • Collaborate with staff members in the athletic department and across campus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Experience working in a college or university environment, preferably in athletics.
  • Knowledge of NCAA & SWAC rules and regulations.
  • Experience with Front Rush, Grades First, Blackboard, LSDBI, Golden Gateway.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to work outside normal business hours, including evenings and weekends.
