About the position

The Academic Learning Support / Playground Supervision Assistant position is designed to support instruction in all core subject areas, utilizing effective strategies for differentiating instruction based on curriculum-based standards. The role involves providing in-class support to identified students, clarifying and redirecting their learning, and encouraging their academic progress. The assistant will also conduct small group instruction and provide individual pull-out support for students needing tier II or tier III interventions, particularly in math and reading/language arts. Flexibility and a willingness to work with students using a multi-sensory approach to enhance their social, emotional, and academic success are essential. The position includes supervision on the playground and in other designated areas, requiring extensive mobility and the ability to perform duties outdoors.

Responsibilities

  • Support instruction in all core subject areas utilizing effective strategies for differentiating instruction.
  • Provide in-class support to identified students by clarifying, redirecting, and encouraging them.
  • Conduct small group instruction for identified students.
  • Provide individual pull-out support for students needing tier II or tier III intervention.
  • Utilize a multi-sensory approach to increase students' social, emotional, and academic successes.
  • Implement evidence-based classroom management strategies.
  • Use technology effectively in the instructional support setting.
  • Prepare required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Supervise students on the playground and in other areas as directed.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other adults within the school.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to support instruction in all core subject areas.
  • Experience and/or training in reading and mathematics learning strategies.
  • Ability to use evidence-based classroom management strategies.
  • Ability to use evidence-based individual behavior management strategies.
  • Ability to physically intervene with students using non-violent crisis intervention techniques.
  • Ability to effectively use and integrate technology in the instructional support setting.
  • Ability to prepare required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Extensive mobility and willingness to perform job duties outdoors.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working positively with elementary school students.
  • Experience with reading intervention techniques.
  • Experience in implementing effective learning and behavior interventions.
  • Excellent communication skills.
