The scientist will be responsible for designing, developing, and conducting research experiments, utilizing their expert knowledge and skills specific to the related program. They will also have advanced knowledge of methods for analyzing data from various experimental platforms, which is crucial for the success of the research initiatives. In addition to conducting experiments, the Academic Research Scientist may assist in grant and funding applications as necessary. With the approval of the responsible faculty director, they may also lead their own research projects or take full responsibility for specific areas of a program. This role includes leadership responsibilities, overseeing the quality of work and training of other team members, ensuring that the research conducted meets the high standards expected at Emory University. The scientist may also serve as the principal investigator on grant proposals, further emphasizing their leadership role within the research team. Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and conduct research experiments.
  • Utilize expert knowledge and skills specific to the related program.
  • Analyze data from experimental platforms using advanced methods.
  • Assist in grant and funding applications as necessary.
  • Lead own research projects with approval from faculty director.
  • Oversee quality and training of other team members.
  • Serve as principal investigator on grant proposals with faculty approval.
  • Perform other responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • PhD and two years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab OR master's degree and four years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab OR bachelor's degree and six years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab.
  • Laboratory experience should be based on area of assignment.
  • Must have skillsets in cell culture, PCR, Western blotting, gene editing, cell imaging, and animal sample processing and analysis.
