About the position

The Academic Success Coach at Brightmont Academy is a part-time role focused on supporting elementary, middle, and high school students in their academic endeavors. This position involves working directly with students to help them complete tasks, manage their time effectively, and develop good study habits in a supervised environment known as the Homework Studio. The coach will motivate students, assist with homework questions, and ensure adherence to studio policies, all while fostering a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring students are using time in Homework Studio wisely and working on homework.
  • Assisting with attendance by ensuring students are headed to class on time and that all scheduled students are present in the study lab at the start of every period.
  • Helping students with any homework questions they may have or researching unfamiliar concepts.
  • Actively walking around and checking in on students, asking if they need help.
  • Enforcing Homework Studio policies, such as no phones in the study lab and maintaining a quiet environment.
  • Proactively compiling student homework through various internal sources and teacher communication.

Requirements

  • Positive mindset and ability to work well with diverse students with different personalities and learning challenges.
  • Comfortable with technology and able to troubleshoot; experience with Google Suite preferred.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Self-sufficient with the ability to problem solve.
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience working with students.

Nice-to-haves

  • Real-world experience working directly with students or prior experience teaching/tutoring one-to-one.
