About the position

The Academic Support Specialist for the Community Health Worker Program at Kapiʻolani Community College is responsible for overseeing the recruitment of trainees and community partnerships, coordinating student tracking through training programs, and providing logistical support for program efforts. This role is crucial in managing outreach, communication, and enrollment for the program, as well as assisting faculty and project managers with data collection and analysis. The position is temporary and part-time, requiring 15-20 hours of work per week.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees recruitment of trainees for the Community Health Worker (CHW) program.
  • Oversees recruitment of community partnerships for student practicum experience.
  • Assists with the coordination of tracking CHW students through the training programs, including documentation of trainees' progress and completion of training programs.
  • Manages outreach, recruitment, communication, and potential enrollment for the CHW program.
  • Provides key logistical support on program efforts, including organizing meetings and distributing materials to students.
  • Provides information and responds to questions in support of faculty members for course delivery.
  • Assists Project Manager with data collection and analysis.
  • Drives to various work sites to manage student and instructor needs.

Requirements

  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business, Management, Health Sciences, or related field.
  • 2 years of progressively responsible professional experience in project management or equivalent education and experience.
  • Functional knowledge of administrative tasks, planning, and coordinating activities.
  • Understanding of Federal and Hawai'i State laws related to grants and healthcare administration training contracts.
  • Knowledge of leadership and organizational management best practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare presentations and reports.
  • Strong multi-tasking ability in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Business, Management, Health Sciences, or related field.
  • Two years of experience working with extramural programs at UH campuses.
  • Experience with online project management and accounting platforms.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $24.85 to $26.90 per hour, commensurate with education and experience.
