About the position

The Academic Support Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the workflow and technical procedures of Academic Support Services. This position involves managing academic data, assisting with degree audits, and ensuring the smooth operation of various academic applications. The specialist will also provide leadership in service orientation and contribute to staff development and training.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership in work processing and service orientation.
  • Troubleshoots and maintains data tables for transfer equivalence, master calendar, academic calendar, and degree audits.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of academic tables in the student information system.
  • Troubleshoots course section problems and space allocation issues.
  • Oversees the development of scheduled classes for each term.
  • Assists in developing procedures for section order forms and prior learning assessments.
  • Provides district support for various academic processes and projects.
  • Participates in external community organizations to support the college's mission.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, completing required training and professional development.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or 60 college hours and two years of related working experience, or equivalent education and experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Microsoft Excel Specialist certification (Associate or Expert).
  • Experience with room reservation or scheduling software systems such as Ad Astra.
  • Experience managing student information in an Enterprise Resource Planning system such as Colleague.
  • Experience developing and leading training programs.
  • Experience with section building and maintenance for credit and non-credit courses.
