About the position
The Academic Team at Sunshine Alternative Education Center is seeking a part-time Secondary Science Support educator to work with high-risk youth. This role focuses on providing academic support in secondary science subjects, including Biology and Earth Science, while also addressing the social and emotional needs of students. The position requires a compassionate leader who can engage with students facing various challenges and help them succeed academically and personally.
Responsibilities
- Provide academic support in secondary science subjects, including Regents Prep and lab classes.
- Engage with students in a compassionate and understanding manner.
- Support the social emotional component of the program designed for high-risk youth.
- Work with a maximum of 12 students at a time, focusing on their individual needs.
Requirements
- Experience in secondary science subjects (Biology, Earth Science, Lab classes).
- Strong leadership skills and compassion for high-risk youth.
- Ability to work weekday mornings from approximately 8:30 to 11:30.

- Experience in working with at-risk youth or in alternative education settings.
