About the position

The Account Executive Officer (AEO) for Construction Loss Sensitive at Travelers is a pivotal role that involves partnering with agents and brokers to provide tailored coverage for both new and renewal business, aligning with the specific needs of customers. This position is recognized as a technical resource within the organization, requiring a decisive and detail-oriented individual who excels in building relationships both internally and externally to drive results. The AEO will independently assess complex risks and effectively sell Travelers' products in challenging markets, contributing significantly to the profitability and success of the company. In this role, the AEO will manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business. This includes underwriting and skillfully negotiating complex customer accounts to minimize risk while maximizing profitability. The AEO will cultivate and maintain relationships with internal partners across the business unit and the enterprise, creating sales plans and identifying cross-selling opportunities. Additionally, the AEO will foster relationships with external partners by regularly meeting with agents and brokers to market and sell Travelers products, with the goal of writing and retaining accounts that align with the company's risk appetite. Travel to these meetings is a requirement of the role. The AEO will also be responsible for identifying and capturing new business opportunities through consultative marketing and sales skills. They will independently develop and execute agency sales plans and frequently collaborate with their Managing Director to create regional or group sales strategies. Furthermore, the AEO may assist in training and mentoring less experienced Account Executives, ensuring a strong team dynamic and knowledge sharing within the organization. Other duties may be assigned as necessary, reflecting the dynamic nature of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business.
  • Underwrite and skillfully negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal partners to create sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with external partners by meeting with agents and brokers to market and sell Travelers products.
  • Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills.
  • Independently develop and execute agency sales plans and partner with the Managing Director to develop regional/group sales plans.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of less experienced Account Executives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Six to eight years of relevant underwriting experience with experience in construction loss sensitive.
  • Deep knowledge of construction loss sensitive products, the regulatory environment, and the local insurance market.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to proactively identify underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to successfully negotiate in difficult situations with agents and brokers.
  • CPCU designation.
  • 4 years of underwriting experience.
