About the position
The Access Control Supervisor at Western Carolina University is responsible for overseeing the Access Control Shop, ensuring the maintenance and repair of building hardware systems, including campus-wide master keying systems. This role involves supervising staff while also performing hands-on work, managing electronic access control systems, and collaborating with various departments to enhance security measures across the campus. The position requires a licensed NC locksmith and entails being the primary contact for after-hours access issues.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the Access Control Shop and act as a working supervisor.
- Maintain and repair building hardware systems, including master keying systems.
- Manage electronic access control systems and troubleshoot related issues.
- Consult with Facilities Management leadership on keying system design and modifications.
- Maintain complete records of lock systems and access control installations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Two years of experience in relevant trade areas or equivalent training and experience.
- Certification as a licensed NC locksmith in accordance with the North Carolina Locksmith Licensing Act.
- Valid NC driver's license.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with CBORD software and Mercury board view knowledge.
- Previous supervisory experience in a facilities management context.
