About the position

The Access Control Technician & Locksmith position at Desert Diamond Casino West Valley involves a range of responsibilities focused on the installation, maintenance, and repair of various access control systems and locking devices. Under the direct supervision of the Access Control Manager, the technician will be responsible for ensuring the security of the Tohono O'odham Gaming Enterprise's assets through effective management of electronic key systems, visitor management systems, and other related hardware. This role requires a high level of confidentiality and professionalism, as the technician will handle sensitive information related to key codes and facility codes. The technician will install, adjust, maintain, and repair a variety of medium and high-security locking devices, including electric door hardware, tubular locks, and hotel room locks. They will also be tasked with troubleshooting and repairing networked access control system controllers and performing scheduled maintenance on all systems hardware. The role includes creating and maintaining master key bitting arrays, configuring access control systems, and ensuring that all equipment is clean and in proper working condition. In addition to technical skills, the technician must demonstrate outstanding guest service, maintain good communication with team members, and contribute to a positive work environment. The position requires the ability to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as being on-call 24/7 on an alternating weekly schedule. The technician will also be responsible for preparing and submitting reports as required and assisting with investigations related to lost keys.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the protection of Tohono O'odham Gaming Enterprise assets.
  • Installs, adjusts, maintains and repairs a variety of medium and high security locking devices.
  • Installs, maintains, upgrades, troubleshoots and repairs networked access control system controllers.
  • Performs scheduled back-up battery tests for all systems hardware under the responsibility of the Access Control Division.
  • Installs, maintains, upgrades, troubleshoots and repairs electronic key systems.
  • Installs and replaces safe deposit box locks and creates new keys as needed.
  • Maintains an accurate physical inventory of all replacement parts.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding records, reports, and investigations.
  • Assists with investigations for lost keys as needed.
  • Operates locksmithing electrical machines to duplicate and cut keys to code.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on all locking devices and electronic systems.
  • Creates and maintains Level 3 or higher Master Key Bitting Arrays.
  • Changes mechanical and electronic safe combinations, and repairs or replaces safe combination locks as required.
  • Uses an engraving machine to create Metal Name Tags and other signage.
  • Complies with departmental standard operating procedures and Team Member Handbook.
  • Ensures equipment is clean and in proper working condition.
  • Prepares and submits reports as required.
  • Performs outstanding internal/external guest service.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED plus three (3) years of general locksmithing experience.
  • Two (2) years of networked access control system installation and repair experience.
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • No arrests in the past year except minor traffic violations.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • 1 year of Electronic Key System installation, maintenance, and repair experience preferred.
  • Locksmith Certification preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of basic electricity and fundamentals of Access Control.
  • Knowledge of safety operations and procedures in a casino environment.
  • Ability to communicate, read, and write clearly in basic English.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1 year of Electronic Key System installation, maintenance, and repair experience preferred.
  • Locksmith Certification preferred.
