About the position

Access Your Future is a sponsorship program designed for students who are interested in pursuing a career as a Service Technician in the equipment industry. This program not only provides a clear career path but also offers educational support and financial incentives to assist students as they attend college and embark on their professional journey. Participants in the Access Your Future Service Program will benefit from paid internship employment at a sponsoring store while they are enrolled in college. This employment can occur during the summer, school breaks, and after classes, depending on the specific arrangements with the sponsoring store. Additionally, the program includes company-paid tools tailored to the educational requirements of the participants, ensuring they have the necessary equipment to succeed in their training. Upon successful completion of their education, graduates will receive a sign-on bonus as they transition to full-time employment with RDO Equipment Co. Furthermore, the program offers four years of post-graduation financial incentives to support the new Service Technicians as they begin their careers with the company. To qualify for the Access Your Future Service Program, students must enroll in or be attending an approved Heavy Equipment Service, Diesel Technology, or other technical service programs recognized by RDO Equipment Co. Participants are required to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and uphold an acceptable attendance record throughout their program. They must also provide copies of their transcripts and diploma to RDO Equipment Co. to receive the financial incentives and sign-on bonus upon full-time employment. Additionally, students must adhere to the academic policies and regulations set forth by their educational institution and accept full-time employment with RDO Equipment Co. following graduation. The specific job location will be determined based on availability. The role involves partnering with a mentor to diagnose, inspect, recondition, repair, assemble, and service equipment as assigned by the supervisor. Participants will document machine information and repairs completed on work orders, including the parts and fluids used. Maintaining a clean work area and caring for all shop tools, machines, and equipment is essential. Adherence to safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments is mandatory, as is compliance with all policies and procedures outlined in company manuals and the employee handbook. Participants are expected to conduct themselves professionally in the presence of customers and the community, representing RDO Equipment Co. positively. They are encouraged to proactively seek and participate in company-sponsored training to enhance their knowledge and skills. Additionally, maintaining a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources is crucial, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service. Other duties may be assigned by management as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with mentor to diagnose, inspect, recondition, repair, assemble, and service equipment as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Document machine information and repairs completed on work orders, including parts and fluids used.
  • Maintain a clean work area and care for all shop tools, machines, and equipment.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures specified in company manuals and the employee handbook.
  • Conduct oneself in the presence of customers and the community to present a professional image of RDO Equipment Co.
  • Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training to develop and advance knowledge and skill set.
  • Participate in all company/location driven communication efforts, including open book meetings, huddles, department meetings, and other related efforts.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.

Requirements

  • Must enroll or be attending an approved Heavy Equipment Service, Diesel Technology, or other technical service program approved by RDO Equipment Co.
  • Maintain a GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) while in the program.
  • Maintain an acceptable attendance record while in the program.
  • Provide a copy of transcripts and diploma to RDO Equipment Co. to receive financial incentives and sign-on bonus upon full-time employment.
  • Adhere to academic policies, rules, and regulations set forth by the higher learning center the student is attending.
  • Accept full-time employment within RDO Equipment Co. following graduation.
  • Mechanical skills and trade-specific tooling, including hand and pneumatic tools.
  • Strong computer skills and excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to perform maintenance functions on equipment.
  • Excellent communication and written skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
