About the position

The Access Your Future Service Intern position is part of a sponsorship program designed for students who are pursuing a career in the equipment industry, specifically as Service Technicians. This program not only provides a structured career path but also offers educational support and financial incentives to assist students as they navigate their college programs and transition into their careers. Interns will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working at a sponsoring store, which may include summer employment, work during school breaks, and after-class hours, depending on the store's availability. As part of the Access Your Future Service Program, interns will receive company-paid tools tailored to their educational requirements. Upon successful completion of their education and transition to full-time employment at RDO Equipment Co., interns will be eligible for a graduation sign-on bonus. Additionally, the program offers four years of post-graduation financial incentives to support the interns as they embark on their Service Technician careers with RDO Equipment Co. To qualify for this program, candidates must be enrolled in or attending an approved Heavy Equipment Service, Diesel Technology, or other technical service programs recognized by RDO Equipment Co. Interns are expected to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and adhere to attendance policies throughout their program. They must also provide transcripts and diplomas to RDO Equipment Co. to receive financial incentives and the sign-on bonus upon full-time employment. Furthermore, interns are required to accept full-time employment with RDO Equipment Co. after graduation, with their location determined based on availability.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with mentor to diagnose, inspect, recondition, repair, assemble, and service equipment as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Document machine information and repairs completed on work orders, including parts and fluids used.
  • Maintain a clean work area and care for all shop tools, machines, and equipment.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook.
  • Conduct oneself in the presence of customers and the community to present a professional image of RDO Equipment Co.
  • Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set.
  • Participate in all company/location driven communication efforts, including open book meetings, huddles, department meetings, and other related efforts.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.

Requirements

  • Must enroll or be attending an approved Heavy Equipment Service, Diesel Technology or other technical service program approved by RDO Equipment Co.
  • Maintain a GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) while in the program.
  • Maintain an acceptable attendance record while in the program.
  • Provide a copy of transcripts and diploma to RDO Equipment Co. in order to receive the financial incentive and sign-on bonus upon full-time employment.
  • Adhere to academic policies, rules, and regulations set forth by the higher learning center the student is attending.
  • Accept full-time employment within RDO Equipment Co. following graduation.
