About the position

The Access Your Future program at RDO Equipment Co. is designed for students pursuing a career as a Service Technician in the equipment industry. This program offers a structured career path, educational support, and financial incentives to assist students while they attend college. Participants will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through paid internships at sponsoring stores during the summer, school breaks, and after classes, depending on the store's availability. The program also includes company-paid tools based on educational requirements, a graduation sign-on bonus upon completing their education, and four years of post-graduation financial incentives as they transition into their Service Technician careers with RDO Equipment Co. As part of the program, students must enroll in or attend an approved Heavy Equipment Service, Diesel Technology, or other technical service programs recognized by RDO Equipment Co. They are required to maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher and an acceptable attendance record. Additionally, students must provide transcripts and diplomas to qualify for financial incentives and the sign-on bonus upon full-time employment. Graduates are expected to accept full-time positions within RDO Equipment Co., with locations determined based on availability. Specific duties for participants include partnering with a mentor to diagnose, inspect, recondition, repair, assemble, and service equipment as assigned. They will document machine information and repairs on work orders, maintain a clean work area, and care for all shop tools and equipment. Adherence to safety rules and company policies is crucial, as is maintaining a professional image in the presence of customers and the community. Participants are encouraged to seek company-sponsored training to enhance their skills and knowledge, engage in communication efforts within the company, and foster positive relationships with peers and management while delivering exemplary customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with mentor to diagnose, inspect, recondition, repair, assemble, and service equipment as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Document machine information and repairs completed on work order, including parts and fluids used.
  • Maintain a clean work area, as well as care for all shop tools, machines, and equipment.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook.
  • Conduct self in the presence of customers and community to present a professional image of RDO Equipment Co.
  • Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set.
  • Participate in all company/location driven communication efforts, including open book meetings, huddles, department meetings, and other related efforts.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.

Requirements

  • Must enroll or be attending an approved Heavy Equipment Service, Diesel Technology or other technical service program approved by RDO Equipment Co.
  • Maintain a GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) while in program.
  • Maintain acceptable attendance record while in program.
  • Provide a copy of transcripts and diploma to RDO Equipment Co. in order to receive the financial incentive and sign on bonus upon full time employment.
  • Adhere to academic policies, rules and regulations set forth by the higher learning center the student is attending.
  • Accept full time employment within a RDO Equipment Co. following graduation.
