About the position

A+I (Architecture Plus Information) is an award-winning strategy-led architecture and design agency based in New York, NY, focusing on design in the built environment. We are seeking an accomplished Architectural Brand and Communications Designer who is creative, engaged, and strategic-minded. This role is centered around exploring the intersection of architectural design, strategic narrative, and spatial branding. At A+I, we believe that exceptional design is the result of collaborative efforts among our teams. As a key member of our project teams, you will work closely with other brand and graphic designers, strategists, architects, and interior designers to deliver meaningful, beautiful, and highly integrated projects through well-managed processes and effective communication. In this position, you will have the opportunity to create a significant impact by embracing project goals and concepts, helping to develop designs that support them. You will be responsible for providing creative initiation of design ideas, both independently and collaboratively with teams. Constructive and clear critical design feedback will be a vital part of your role, as will fostering design collaboration within your team and with office leadership. You will communicate complex ideas with clarity, both verbally and graphically, and manage the production and output of integrated brand, wayfinding, and graphic details. Additionally, you will design strategies and generate narratives to guide architectural work in clear and clever ways, ensuring that original thoughts and concepts are developed and refined into final deliverable products. A strong emphasis will be placed on caring for the culture and people you work with, as well as the projects you undertake.

Responsibilities

  • Embrace project goals and concepts and help develop design that supports them.
  • Provide creative initiation of design ideas, both independently and with teams.
  • Offer and solicit constructive and clear critical design feedback.
  • Foster design collaboration within your team and with office leadership.
  • Communicate complex ideas with clarity: verbally, graphically, and in writing.
  • Manage the production and output of integrated brand, wayfinding, and graphic details.
  • Design strategies and generate narratives to guide architectural work in clear and clever ways.
  • Generate original thoughts and concepts, developing and refining them to a final deliverable product.
  • Care about the culture and people you work with as much as the projects you work on.

Requirements

  • Professional architectural degree in architecture, branding and/or graphic design, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in a mix of hands-on branding, graphic design, and spatial design experience in a design-focused architectural office or similar.
  • Expert experience in digital and physical graphic production.
  • High degree of expertise with the Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Excel & Word.
  • Strong client-engagement skills, strong analytical skills, strong graphic design & presentation skills.
  • Excellent English language communication skills.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States, without need for employer sponsorship.
  • Currently living in NYC area and/or willing & able to relocate.

Nice-to-haves

  • Comfort with modelling in Revit and Rhino would be helpful but are not mandatory.
  • A background in architecture is highly desirable, but not required.
