Account Auditor

About the position

In Account Auditing, we are checking the overall status of each account as a whole with regard to billing and payment from insurance companies and settlements. We check current charges, payment status from PIP insurance, case status and payment from attorneys, and accuracy of notes as they pertain to the nature of the account. In doing so, we also determine and/or correct any billing information for each patient account.

Responsibilities

• Check the overall status of each account regarding billing and payment from insurance companies and settlements.
• Verify current charges and payment status from PIP insurance.
• Assess case status and payment from attorneys.
• Ensure accuracy of notes related to the account.
• Determine and correct any billing information for each patient account.
• Communicate effectively with co-workers, insurance adjusters, patients, and their legal staff.
• Multi-task and adapt to changes in protocols.
• Use multiple resources for research to resolve account issues.
• Assist Supervisor with projects.
• Abide by HIPAA policies & procedures.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Computer literate with good typing skills.
• Working knowledge of Word/Note Pad type software.
• Proper phone etiquette and oral skills.
• Good organizational skills.
• Prior use of ledgers and their basic functions is helpful.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of Spanish is helpful but not necessary.
